New Single: There For Tomorrow “Dark Purple Sky”

After about two and a half years, There For Tomorrow is back with a new single, “Dark Purple Sky.” The band took some time to tour, including Vans Warped Tour 2011 and their first headlining tour with a brief tour in the UK and Europe.  In December 2013, There For Tomorrow announced they would be releasing a new EP in early 2014, from which “Dark Purple Sky” is the first single.

The familiar sounds of There For Tomorrow return with “Dark Purple Sky.”  The strong drums of Chris Kamrada and the talent of guitarist, Christian Climer, dominate the background in the signature TFT way.  It is a comfort to fans who have been waiting for new music that the band has not changed since recording their last album, The Verge, which was released in June of 2011.  At the same time however, it leaves TFT feeling a little stuck, churning out the same underlying tones.  Nevertheless, lead singer Maika Maile is strong with his vocals, which always offer something unique to the band’s melancholy sound.  Maile has a way of serenading fans, and even the color tones attached to the “Dark Purple Sky” artwork,  as well as the song title itself, lend to the dark yet soothing aura for which There For Tomorrow is known.

After a few listens, it is easy to conclude that There For Tomorrow is back.  It seems “Dark Purple Sky” is the perfect song to welcome the band back, whether it is from old fans or new.

Rating: 3.5/5
