The Role Call, the pop-rock band from Minneapolis, has recently released a new EP, Like I Do. The band only formed last year, but has already taken great strides within the music industry, and their release of new music with Like I Do is only further proof of that.
The EP is complete with five fun songs that are sure to pave the way for The Role Call, and are great tracks for defining the band. The Role Call was able to work with producer Jordan Schmidt (All Time Low, Motion City Soundtrack, Paradise Fears) yet again, an incredible feat for the band. They were also able to record with Paradise Fears’ frontman Sam Miller on the new track, “Indestructible.”
Like I Do opens with its title track, a perfect entry into the EP and the poppy and fun sound that is The Role Call. Right off the bat the boys of The Role Call have you hooked, and you can’t help but be sucked into the movement of the song’s beat.
“3 Drinks 2 Drunk” is fun, and sure to be a great summer party song.
“She’s All I Think About” has a great beat; drummer Joey Russ really carries the ebb and flow of this song. The song has a kind of rave-like feel, making it another great song for summer.
“Only One” lyrically strikes on more of an emotional level. It can be that upbeat song you need, but at the same time it serves as a go-to for some deeper feeling. It is one song that rounds out the album, balancing different facets of talent within the band.
“Indestructible” is a little more laid back, but still carries a steady and catchy beat. The addition of Sam Miller’s vocals is a special bonus to the song, and the production pulls it together with a unique, smooth sound.
Like I Do comes down to being the perfect summer mix, and the album artwork is a clear testament to that. The city lights and the high speed highway perfectly convey what this EP is about and just what it has to offer fans. If you like fun, upbeat pop-rock, The Roll Call is the band for you.
