I’m not really one for country music, but when I came across Hunter Hayes’ “Wanted,” I was blown away. You know that moment when you hear a song and you just have to stop, sit back, and a small smile slowly grows into a grin? That was “Wanted” for me.
Hunter Hayes is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Louisiana, who started dabbling in music when he was only two years old. Hayes grew up playing and writing music, performing his first shows in his teens. In 2008, Hayes and his parents moved to Nashville, where Hayes attracted interest from various music industry professionals.
Hayes’ first major project was an independently recorded album, Songs About Nothing, which he used to propel himself forward and catch the eye of Atlantic Records. Working with Atlantic and producer Dann Huff, Hayes was able to release his self-titled debut album, Hunter Hayes, in October 2011.
Since then, Hayes has opened for Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, and Carrie Underwood this past fall. Hayes has also won a Teen Choice Award for Male Country Artist of the Year, as well as CMA’s best New Artist of 2012, and released a Live EP in October 2012.
In fact, Hayes premiered a new video for his song, “Somebody’s Heartbreak,” today! You can check out “Wanted” and “Somebody’s Heartbreak” below:
